German chancellor candidate promises to relaunch Nord Stream gas line if elected
This is a really BIG deal.
If Russian pipelined gas goes back on line to Germany, it will usher in a resurrected economic miracle (Wirtschaftswunder) of the kind that emerged decades ago and that made Germany the second biggest exporter in the world after China. It also made the rest of Europe richer since Germany was justifiably deemed the engine of the European economy.
Of course, the US regime will not like that one bit because Washington plays the stupid zero-sum game, considering that any gain by a competitor is a loss for the US.
In real life, for normal people, this is nonsense. In fact, the lame-brained game played by our Washington psychos results in a loss for everyone.
Example: After the Russian provoked invasion of Ukraine (falsely called unprovoked by the Western monolithic press), the US and its allies hysterically demanded that Europe send money and arms to Ukraine, but since the economic restrictions, followed by the Biden team’s sabotage to the Nord Stream, soon brought down the German and then the European economy.
Result: It became very difficult for European states to afford the extravaganza of supporting the Kiev military and general economy. This meant, for example, less money to spend on buying US weapons. Thus, by restricting the Russian fuel supplies to Europe, we were hurting ourselves.
Generally speaking, of course, any time you undermine the economy of a trading partner, common sense tells us that you are indirectly hurting yourself, because a state with a stifled economy simply can’t buy as much of your goods as it could if it were economically healthy.
At any rate, if Weidel succeeds in restoring the Nord Stream pipelines, she will in fact be restoring the entire European economy, It would be no exaggeration at all to say she would literally be saving Europe!
Of course, the numbskulls in the EU and most national legislatures will fight Weidel tooth and nail.
Normally, we would expect Donald Trump to be the fiercest opponent of the return of Nord Stream. In fact, he slapped sanctions on the European investors in the construction of Nord Stream after the Russian invasion.
However, he may have been motivated at that time by a desire to get tough on Russia to deflect public opinion away from the allegations of pro-Russian sentiment that were hamstringing his first term.
As for his recent posting of a Jeffrey Sachs interview lambasting Netanyahu, I suspect that he felt the need to distance himself from the global condemnation of the genocide and fall in line with the many voters who have drifted away from the rigid support of Israel that he once displayed.
In other words, Trump may not have much personal loyalty to any ideology or theology or to old friends that have once supported him.
This peculiar behavior makes him look like a chameleon, but to call him that may not do him justice either.
At any rate, if the “new” Trump has changed his mind about the genocide, we can only welcome that.
I say all that to say that perhaps – just perhaps – Trump can to some extent support Weidel and her promise to restore the Nord Stream. The fact that Trump’s sounding board Elon Musk endorses her candidacy could well be a signal.

German chancellor candidate promises to relaunch Nord Stream
The AfD’s Alice Weidel has said that Germans “can count” on her party to restore energy links with Russia
Alternative for Germany (AfD) co-leader Alice Weidel has pledged to put the sabotaged Nord Stream gas pipelines back into operation if her party emerges victorious in next month’s general election.
AfD members met in the town of Riesa on Saturday to formally approve Weidel as their candidate to succeed Chancellor Olaf Scholz, whose coalition government collapsed late last year. Weidel’s nomination marks the right-wing AfD’s first bid for the chancellery in its 11-year history.
In a speech after the nomination vote, Weidel promised to implement harsh immigration policies – including the “remigration” of immigrants already living legally in Germany – and to scrap Scholz’ green policies in a bid to drive down energy prices. Restoring energy ties to Russia is vital to this latter goal, she explained.
“We will put Nord Stream back into operation, you can count on it,” Weidel told her party.
Germany relied on Russia for 55% of its natural gas supply before the Ukraine conflict escalated in February 2022. Much of this gas flowed through the Nord Stream 1 pipelines, with the parallel Nord Stream 2 lines due to come online in 2022. However, Berlin revoked the certification for Nord Stream 2 several days before Russia’s military operation in Ukraine began, and both sets of lines were destroyed in an act of sabotage in September of that year.
While German investigators have reportedly settled on the theory that the pipelines were destroyed by Ukrainian saboteurs, American journalist Seymour Hersh maintains that they were blown up by the CIA and US Navy. The head of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), Sergey Naryshkin, has blamed “professional saboteurs from the Anglo-American special services,” referring to the US and UK.
Scholz’ decision to halt Russian energy imports, coupled with his government’s green policies, has led to soaring electricity costs in Germany, forcing some of the country’s manufacturing giants – including Volkswagen and BASF – to close plants and lay off workers.
The AfD is not the only German party that wants to repair and reopen Nord Stream. The leftist Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW) has also demanded that they be brought back online, with BSW MP Sevim Dagdelen calling last week for the gas lines to “finally be put into operation,” and for the German government to “stop giving money to Kiev!”
Germans go to the polls to choose a new government on February 23. The AfD is currently polling at around 20%, ahead of Scholz’ center-left Social Democratic Party (SPD) at 16%, but behind the center-right Christian Democratic Union (CDU) at 31%. However, even if the AfD were to emerge as the largest party next month all of Germany’s other mainstream parties have ruled out entering a coalition with the right-wingers.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces were scattered across Bucha, factories, airfields and Zelensky's city were shaking: The underground reported powerful explosions in Ukraine
The underground got in touch after a powerful night attack on Ukraine. It is reported that Russian drones and missiles made the enemy's military factories and airfields tremble, shook Zelensky's city [Krivoy Rog], and scattered the Ukrainian Armed Forces across Bucha. The partisans reported what Kiev kept silent about.
"It exploded with a detonation" [This apparently means the drone or missile exploded and set off secondary ammo detonations or the like]
Last night, our troops attacked a number of oblasts of Ukraine, and, judging by the incoming reports, the targets of the "Gerans" and missiles were enemy military airfields and factories. According to the underground coordinator Sergei Lebedev, the very first reports of night strikes began to come from Voznesensk in the Nikolaev oblast.
A couple of "Geran" strikes with an interval of about 10 minutes over Martynovka, the report said.
According to Lebedev, Martynovka is a military airfield with coordinates (47.50982417147051, 31.257531245837214), which the enemy uses as a jump-off airfield (simply for refueling). After the attack, the planes land there, re-arm themselves and refuel in order to launch new missiles in our direction.
At 2:05 am, the airfield was attacked by our drones. The explosion was heard in Voznesensk, it exploded with a detonation (the second strike). After the strikes, ambulances rushed towards Martynovka. The strikes were very successful, the report says.
The partisans state that the SBU began checking and going door to door already at night. In turn, the underground fighters are asking to send several "Gerans" to the military unit in Bugskiye, where foreign mercenaries have been spotted. "The explosion was powerful"
The explosions shook the airfields not only in the Nikolaev oblast. In Kremenchug, Poltava oblast, at about 00:20, it flew in from the outskirts in the direction of the "Vtoraya Zasyp" area, approximately in the warehouses of the Kremenchug auto assembly plant. The second explosion was at 01:45 in the southern suburbs, but the details are still unknown. There was also a strike on the suburbs of Cherkasy.
The Resistance writes that the explosion was in the direction of the airport. There is a closed area there for ordinary citizens. The explosion was powerful. Pobeda Avenue (the street adjacent to the airfield) is blocked, not only the TCC, but also the SBU are checking. They are checking smartphones. There are rumors that the moment of the strike was filmed and sent "where necessary," Lebedev clarified.
Also in the Poltava oblast, Reshetilovka received an arrival - at about 1 am. There are few specifics yet, but there was a shudder in the area of "ukrposhta" [the national post office].
Zelensky's city, Krivoy Rog (where he was born and raised), also got hit.
The city is very long, and you can immediately tell where it was struck if it landed nearby. Approximately in the "95th quarter" microdistrict, where Zelensky once lived. One landing was at ten to three, the second at about half past three in the morning, the underground reports.
Survivors are still being caught
There were also explosions in the area of the military airfield in Kirovograd. In particular, the city of Alexandria was hit. As Lebedev writes, this city is famous for its helicopter airfield.
Not only are helicopters parked there. Repairs, armament, and refueling of helicopters are carried out there, which then attack our troops in the Zaporizhia direction. Alexandria is also known for the National Guard regiment located in the city and near the airfield. The strike was serious: the blast wave blew out windows in the city and tore down power lines. There were no civilian casualties, he added.
But in Bucha, Kyiv Oblast, the Ukrainian Armed Forces were unlucky. It was reported that the Gerans hit a cluster of equipment in the city, but since these were drones and not missiles, "nothing catastrophic happened to the equipment," "which cannot be said about the military personnel stationed nearby before their unit was redeployed." According to eyewitnesses, the wounded and dead Ukrainian Armed Forces were scattered around the city.
The survivors fled and are currently being caught. The reinforcement of checkpoints in Bucha and nearby is connected with the catching of those who fled, they clarify from the ground. [The use of the word “catch” seems to suggest that the recruiters, who kidnap men, are using this opportunity to press-gang men]

This is WEIRD! Trump posted on his Truth Social account, a video of a speech by Jeffrey Sachs, a brilliant, VERY anti-war and anti-Israel commentator (Sachs is a prof at Columbia U), whose statements are totally incompatible with the usual American supremacy stance of Donald Trump – who most of us would say has been an Israel stooge. Has Trump made a 180˚U turn? Or is he trying to confuse us? Or perhaps he’s been told that the unipolar world is on its way out…? Or has Putin influenced him?
Trump’s Middle East Signals
President Trump posted a video of Columbia professor Jeffery Sachs “sharply criticizing US Middle East policy and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s role in leading the US into wars.”
Color me surprised. Sachs is one of the most informed antiwar voices on the Middle East and Ukraine and it is rare that leaders reference him.
In the video, Sachs calls Netanyahu “a deep, dark son of a bitch” who led the US into multiple follies in the Middle East and now wants America to fight a war with Iran on Israel’s behalf.
“Netanyahu had, from 1995 onward, the theory that the only way we’re going to get rid of Hamas and Hezbollah is by toppling the governments that support them. That’s Iraq, Iran and Syria. The guy is nothing if not obsessive.” He continues, “He’s gotten us into endless wars and because of the power of all of this in U.S. politics, he’s gotten his way.”
Sachs blames President Barack Obama for acting on behalf of Netanyahu by launching a CIA operation in Syria to overthrow President Bashar al-Assad, ignoring intelligence that this would backfire with an Islamic Caliphate.
Does this mean that the President-elect will not pacify Netanyahu with American blood anymore? Does this mean that he has real informed antiwar advisors? Could it be!?
Netanyahu has reportedly canceled his plans to attend President Trump’s inauguration.

Trump is a bit like a flimflam man.
Weidel's big IF: even if the AfD gets anywhere anytime soon (elections), they'll get nowhere, as what happened with the other European populist parties that won elections and were sidelined (France, Holland).
