Peace miracle in November: Trump will replace “to the last Ukrainian” with “to the last Palestinian”
For most of the totally insane Biden term, the US has been on tenterhooks waiting for the US regime to wake up and realize that the war in Ukraine cannot be won. Now we can worry about Palestine.
We are about to replace one set of worries about Ukraine for another set of worries about the vulnerable Palestinians.
There was some relief to the nearly unbearable tension when Biden finally took the decision to hand the reins over to Kamala Harris, who has a snowball’s chance of winning.
And now that the MAGA team and the Evangelical Church have decided that Trump can replace Jesus as Messiah, some are falsely expecting a peace miracle in November. But what we “know” about future wars is pure superstition and religious dogma. US politicians don’t have to justify their wars on intellectual arguments. The grassroots is still stuck in the Middle Ages. Nostradamus and the scriptures will determine our course of action.
The tenterhooks will not go away and the tension can be expected to continue because now, instead of watching the Neocons kill off the Ukraine male population, we will be watching the Israelis continue their genocidal campaign with Trump cheering on the carnage, and this time, instead of a US-supported kill-off of Ukrainian males, we will be treated to the even less-human horror of more tens of thousands of deaths of Palestinian children and their parents, with Trump assuring us that these are all animals and Hamas sympathizers. All supported by Netanyahu’s exegesis of the Bible.
I recall back in the Trump years that a Palestinian gay guy had applied for a visa to go celebrate a wedding with another gay guy in California, and Trump’s reaction was to reject the visa application because “I don’t want a Palestinian in California.” Back then Trump was running around acting as if Palestinians were worse than the plague, and anyone who knew of his unwholesome relationship with AIPAC knew full well that this was not Trump talking, it was AIPAC expressing through him the will of the Nazi crime syndicate in Tel Aviv to exterminate all Palestinians like rats.
We had an Israel-obsessed president then and we replace him with a Ukraine-obsessed president.
And we’ve been living on tenterhooks since 2016 wondering if Washington would ever wake up to the fact that there was no reason to send killer arms to Ukraine or bombs to Israel because neither the Russians nor the Palestinians had threatened to harm a single hair on an American head.
But no, only we little people noticed this fact.
Now we can expect to segue from the slaughter of Russians to the intensified slaughter of Palestinians.
BTW, if you think that Trump was miraculously mellowed by his brush with death (or false flag or whatever it was) last week, think again. Why do you think he unexpectedly viciously attacked his one-time friend El Salvador president Bukele at the RNC convention?
Look no farther than his pledge to give Israel everything it ever wants. And right now, madman Netanyahu’s anti-Palestinian hate has spilled out to touch anyone even with a drop of Palestinian blood. It so happens Bukele has been found to have inherited Palestinian DNA from his grandfather, and that fact has doomed him. Trump now absurdly accuses Bukele of sending El Salvador’s criminals to the US. There’s no lie too big for a MAGA fanatic to swallow.
So don’t believe that Trump’s newfound Messiah status has made a better man of him. Israel owns Trump body and soul and Trump knows he must support the genocide to its logical end.
For Biden, the obsession was “to the last Ukrainian.” For Trump, the obsession is “to the last Palestinian,” even to everyone with a chromosome of Palestinian DNA.
This racism is even more extreme as any seen in Hitler’s Third Reich.
Washington supported Nazism in Ukraine and will now support it in Tel Aviv. We are seeing an unbroken line of Nazi sympathizers in the White House.
But can you be a whole hearted Nazi sympathizer without being a Nazi yourself?
It seems no one in the US has given this question much thought, but it ought to be central in our current politics. We are sliding in an extremely dangerous direction that most of us can’t even identify.
Trump is NOT going to bring peace. The Trump camp keeps reminding us that Trump did not start any wars, but they forget that Trump-supported Israel has always been at war with the Palestinian children and they forget about the disgraceful murder of war hero and anti-terrorist Qassem Soleimani by Mr. Trump, who pretended that the latter was plotting to kill Americans somewhere. The murder was committed to please Israel, because Israel has always been pushing the US to attack Iran with nukes and Trump knew he couldn’t afford that on his resume so he took the cheaper way out and killed an innocent man who was a hero to millions of Muslims.
Big mistake.
This murder completely hardened the will of millions of Arabs to fight the imperial powers and led the Iraqi parliament to kick out the US. It also led the Iranians to launch a ballistic missile into the Iraqi base Ayn al Asad where it caused brain traumas in 100 US troops housed there, who then had to be sent for treatment in fellow Nazi-sympathizer Germany.
Trump had no response to this attack, which opened the Neocons’ eyes to the fact that Iran and its proteges in the Middle East had a weapon that could be used against the imperialists and could lead to a US defeat – as the Houthis, Hezbollah and the rest of the Resistance fronts are now demonstrating.
Netanyahu butt kisser Trump now faces a confrontation he can’t win, tied to the infanticidal Israel that only the US and its chihuahuas are sick enough to aid.
We seem poised to spend another 4 years on tenterhooks watching an intensified slaughter of Palestinians until the Global South and its friends in Russia and China hand us our final comeuppance to end all comeuppances.
Russian commentators are hinting that the US could be drained economically in 2-3 years, making it ripe enough to fall from the plum tree that Krushchev alluded to decades ago.
Would that fact discourage the Neocons from going nuclear?
We need to think so.

Is Israel blessed by God? US Evangelicals run around declaring that it is, and that anyone who goes against Israel will be cursed. This widely believed myth is why Israel has been allowed to get away with committing atrocities ever since 1948. But things are now changing.
Just a few days ago, Israel’s biggest and richest port of Elat on the Red Sea side declared bankruptcy.
How could this happen in the blessed state of Israel?”
Very simply, the Houthis in the small, impoverished state of Yemen have been sinking gigantic ships doing trade with Israel at the port, and now no shipping company dares sail to that port, which is almost empty. And what has happened?
All these attacks have resulted in the port of Eilat declaring bankruptcy because shipping companies are ceasing deliveries there.
Leviticus 19:34 contains a commandment of Israel’s God as follows":
You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.
If you have a “Christian” Zionist friend who tells you Israel is blessed and no country can touch it, ask them whether they think Israel is obedient to this verse in Leviticus and if not, why would God continue to bless Israel?

The Russian Aerospace Forces destroyed the deployment point of the National Guard of Ukraine with a FAB-3000 strike
Vasily Koshkin
Russian aviation destroyed the temporary deployment point of the 3rd battalion of the 13th brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine. According to the Telegram channel “Iznanka”, the strike was carried out using a high-explosive aerial bomb FAB-3000.
It is noted that the Ukrainian unit tried to take refuge in one of the houses in the village of Liptsy, Kharkov oblast. Military correspondents note that the attack was directed at the target by Russian drones.
“They forgot that Russian “scout birds” [recon drones] are actively working in the sky. Our pilots assigned another fighter with the call sign “FAB-3000” to them,” says the description of the video.
https://vk.com/video-73498413_456240310
According to military officials, at least 50 Ukrainian soldiers were killed. Also, as a result of the strike, the Ukrainian army lost three pickup trucks and an armored car.
Earlier, Rostec reported that the FAB-3000 high-explosive aerial bomb is capable of covering an area of 11 football fields with an explosion.
High-explosive aerial bombs (FAB) are aerial bombs whose main destructive effect is the effect of a landmine. They have the most powerful and versatile destructive effect of all main-purpose aerial bombs.

Russia destroyed the deployment point of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kharkov region. Drones aimed a three-ton bomb at the target
The Russian Armed Forces destroyed the Ukrainian Armed Forces deployment point in Liptsy with the help of FAB-3000
PlotSpecial military operation (SVO) in Ukraine
The Russian Armed Forces (AF) destroyed the temporary deployment point of the 3rd battalion of the 13th brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in Liptsy, Kharkov oblast.
The drones aimed a three-ton high-explosive bomb (FAB-3000) at the target. 50 Ukrainian Armed Forces servicemen, an armored car and three pickup trucks found themselves in the affected area.
The advantages of FAB-3000
“The FAB-3000 is capable of hitting very fortified targets - long-term structures, in-depth command posts. The combat power of this bomb cannot be ignored. It’s difficult to imagine a target that could not be hit by an aerial bomb of such a nominal mass,” said the Russian Su-34 pilot.
According to a representative of the Rostec corporation, the explosion of a three-ton bomb creates a shock wave that makes it possible to destroy, in particular, a platoon stronghold of the Ukrainian Armed Forces with open-type earthen fortifications. This is possible due to the fact that FAB-3000 have an explosive charge of about one and a half tons.
He also clarified that a bomb explosion is capable of covering an area comparable to 11 football fields.

SERGEY LATYSHEV
"NORTH STREAMS" WILL BECOME CASPIAN STREAMS. IRAN REVEALS DETAILS OF SENSATIONAL AGREEMENT WITH RUSSIA
The capacity of the pipeline along the bottom of the Caspian Sea from Russia to Iran will be, according to Tehran, 300 million cubic meters of gas per day. This means that instead of the West, gas from Russia will go not only to the East, but also to the South - not to enemies, but to friends! It will be years before the practical implementation of the project, but it is very important to set ambitious goals in order to move forward, frightening the West with your determination to break with it and at the same time disciplining allies and partners.
Russia punished the European Union with gas for its hostile policies and plans to completely abandon Russian blue fuel in 2027. Iran announced the verdict. This is a bomb". As well as a clear confirmation that Moscow’s threats to break with the West, which has shown the Russians its cannibalistic attitude in connection with Ukraine, are not rhetoric at all.
Gazprom did not hide the fact that at the end of June in Tehran, where the concern’s chairman of the board Alexey Miller was on a working visit, he signed a strategic memorandum on working out the organization of pipeline supplies of Russian natural gas to Iran. And that the participants in the negotiations (from the Iranian side we are talking about the National Iranian Gas Company - NIGC) also “discussed priority steps for the implementation of the memorandum and other areas of cooperation in the energy sector.”
What are they planning?
The bureaucratic language of Gazprom's press release did not allow one to immediately discern the sensation. It was announced only now by Iranian Oil Minister Javad Oji, who was negotiating with Miller.
The Iranian press abundantly quotes its minister, who made these sensational statements. Tehran and Moscow agreed to sign a 30-year contract for the supply of gas to Iran in a volume of up to 300 million cubic meters per day, or about 110 billion cubic meters per year. This represents approximately 45% of the country's current gas consumption, where it is the main source of energy, and is comparable to promising contracts for gas supplies from Russia to China.
For this, according to Oji, it is planned to build a pipe along the bottom of the Caspian Sea, which will require coordination with other coastal states. Reuters confirms that we are talking specifically about the supply of this volume of gas “through the Caspian Sea,” although other routes were initially named, along which gas delivery is already possible, albeit in smaller volumes.
The Iranian minister said that the creation of the necessary infrastructure for this will be paid for by Russia, which has experience in the construction of offshore pipelines. Moreover, part of the Russian gas that Iran does not use for internal needs can be supplied to other countries. The gas price for Iran will be about $100 per thousand cubic meters.
Not enough, would you say? Yes, Russia supplied gas to Europe via Nord Stream at a higher price. But its “strings” - three out of four - were blown up by the Americans, and the money earned by the Russians for gas exports was “frozen” by the Europeans, almost stolen. And now they are also suing... Gazprom for violating gas supply contracts, and this farce is actually just beginning! Which business is more profitable?
The implementation of this 30-year agreement, which can be called the pinnacle of regional diplomacy of Shahid Raisi (the former president of Iran and, by the way, is that why he died? - Ed.), in addition to eliminating internal imbalances, will turn Iran into a hub for gas supplies to the region and lead to a significant increase in trade and exchanges, as well as to the economic and political security of the country,
- Oji said at a government meeting, as quoted by the Irna agency
Acting told Miller about the same thing on June 26. Iranian President Mohammad Mokhber: "With the signing of this memorandum, Iran will become a regional gas hub."
What else?
The deal has another important aspect: Russia is thus creating a corridor for exporting its gas to the ports of the Persian Gulf, to the countries of South Asia.
On the sidelines of the weekly government meeting, the minister (Oji - ed.) told reporters that less than a month ago, some documents were signed between Iran and Russia, according to which part of Russian gas will be transferred to Iran for consumption, and part - for export and ensuring energy security neighboring countries, informs Shana agency.
But that's not all. According to the head of the Iranian Ministry of Oil, Gazprom will also build, at its own expense, an overland gas pipeline through the whole of Iran - from north to south. Gas supplies from Russia will be equivalent to the capacity of the two Nord Streams.
Currently, Gazprom, having secured payments, supplies less than 30 billion cubic meters of gas per year to Europe via other routes. Exports to the west have decreased by almost five times, and in a few years there may be none at all. It depends on the Ukrainians and Turks, who, as practice shows, cannot be trusted, while Iran is a stable country whose interests do not intersect with Russia anywhere.
We are simply doomed - also as sanctioned enemies of the West - to the closest cooperation in all areas.
It is still difficult to say how many years it will take to build a gas pipeline along the bottom of the Caspian Sea, where this will be done for the first time. For a given volume of gas, according to experts, three or four “strings” will be required, and to implement the project it will take five years, or even more. And it's even harder to say how much it will cost. Several tens of billions of dollars, for sure.
Legitimate questions - comprehensive answers
Someone may say: why such difficulties! After all, it would be possible to supply gas to Iran through Azerbaijan (swap with local gas) or Turkmenistan. Of course, it would be possible if it weren’tfor politics. After all, if Baku, for example, decides to do this, the Americans and Co. will find ways to take revenge on Azerbaijan. But even if there were no Anglo-Saxons poking their noses everywhere in the world, massive investments would still be required to expand existing pipeline networks.
And some might say this: what kind of profanity is this! Iran ranks third in the world in gas production - after the United States and Russia, receiving more than it consumes. This is certainly true. But everything is logical here. Tehran traditionally uses large volumes of produced gas to stimulate oil production, and sells some of it because they pay well for it. Iran's main gas fields are in the south of the country, and in the north, especially in winter, its shortage is acute. Already this year, Iran will lack approximately the volume of gas that Russia intends to supply. Tehran also intends to buy gas from other countries, for example, from Turkmenistan, which, however, China has big plans for. There is also a problem with Azerbaijani gas - the Turks and Europeans are primarily claiming it.
Looking for India?
The rapidly developing countries of South Asia, led by India, have a large gas deficit. Meanwhile, strategic, comprehensive agreements between Moscow and Tehran on gas open up opportunities for commercial negotiations with potential buyers in this promising region. Experts believe that they will ultimately determine the scale of the project and investments. That is why in Tehran they pronounce the word “hub” with aspiration. We are talking not only about the economy and money, the formation of a fair price for gas, but also about political influence.
This also applies to us. Russia, for example, supplies its gas to the north of Iran, and Iran, in exchange for these supplies, sends its own to India. Probably, at the same time, the Russian one - via the Gazprom gas pipeline that will connect the north and south of Iran. Everyone benefits. And there are no Western Pharisees, swindlers and terrorists!
Conclusion
Sensational details from Tehran about the deal between Russia and Iran concluded at the end of June cannot but please, as they strengthen the security of our country and give Moscow a free hand in the big geopolitical game, terrifying our enemies and disciplining allies and partners.
By selling large volumes of gas to Tehran and further to South Asia via the Iranian route, Russia not only cements its ties with Iran, where they do not hide their enthusiasm for this, but also receives effective leverage over Turkey and China.
Both Ankara and Beijing, taking advantage of Russia’s problems with the West, would like to have our resources at the cheapest prices possible. Now they must understand that they will have to compete for our gas with Iran, and possibly with India. Competition is always good: the price for gas in all cases will be higher than what it would be if competition did not exist.
And it turns out to be an amazing picture. The “hub” for the supply of Russian gas to the south of Europe is NATO’s Turkey, which does not recognize Crimea as Russian and has claims to supremacy in the “Turkic world”. This country has fought major wars with Russia 12 times. After the inevitable departure (for he is not immortal) of Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who knows how to sit on several chairs at once, and his replacement by a president who owes everything to the West, she will show Russia such teeth that the Turkish “hub” may quickly become inaccessible to us.
With China, the problem of reliability is not so acute - they are too interested in us. But the Chinese, who are capable of acting strategically in the name of the highest national interests, very often in everyday life behave like businessmen, or rather, traders. And if they see that Russia has nowhere to sell its gas, then they’ll take advantage of it. So now this door is closing. And that's great.

Supporting Israel Is Big Business in the U.S. for Israel partisans
Israel and its all-powerful billionaire funded lobby is indisputably in control of many key aspects of America… American and Israeli citizens may contribute to a charity in Israel and qualify for an income tax deduction in the U.S… Pretty soon we Americans will all be terrorized into dancing to the same tune that Congress and the White House dance to.
by Philip Giraldi, reposted from The Unz Review, July 12, 2024
In a recent article discussing how US Treasury Department tax breaks are exploited by groups that raise money in America in support of the Israeli so-called Defense Forces (IDF), I concluded that it does not require any particular brilliance on the part of even a casual observer to realize that both politically and economically Israel and Israelis are not treated like everyone else by governments at various levels in the United States, quite the contrary in many cases.
Nevertheless, some key questions must be asked even at risk of being repetitive about Israel’s clearly privileged status.
One must consider how is it possible that organizations that are committed to financially supporting war crimes and even genocide by a foreign nation are allowed to have tax breaks that enable them to collect more money which in turn helps them to corrupt the system that feeds them while also empowering those foreign militaries?
How is it possible that the foreign army carrying out the war crimes is also allowed to benefit directly from the U.S. laws that have created exemption from taxation?
In short, is there no sense of responsibility and/or consequences on the part of American government when it comes to the behavior of the pariah apartheid Jewish state?
In the event, comments and insights from some readers both on my posting and privately in emails and on Facebook have convinced me that I have greatly understated the case.
Those who argue, perhaps somewhat in jest, the US Congress is the Knesset West and that both Donald Trump and Joe Biden are in fact Israeli puppets are very close to being on the mark, making Israel and its all-powerful billionaire funded lobby indisputably in control of many key aspects of American government beyond the obviously targeted foreign policy.
Combine that with control over the media and entertainment industries that shape the Israeli preferred narrative at all times, and you have a situation where when Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says “jump” 95% of Congress and everyone in the White House begin hopping.
We will no doubt see that in play when the monstrous Netanyahu arrives in Washington to address a joint session of Congress on July 24th.
The performing monkeys who will appear on television leaping up and down while cheering Bibi will definitely be something to see, though one hopes that at the same time there will also be a million demonstrators surrounding Capitol Hill calling for the head of the world’s leading war criminal.
One thing that should be completely clear is that the United States gets absolutely nothing out of the relationship with Israel, which all flows in only one direction to the tune of what probably amounts to more than a billion dollars a month if all the extras and the inevitable fraud are taken into account.
And that does not even include special donations like the $14 billion recently granted by Congress and President Joe Biden to fund Israel’s never-ending war of extermination against the Palestinians.
In my recent piece, I took particular aim at 501(c)(3) non-profits set up in New York City and in Massachusetts which exist to provide funds to the Israeli army.
Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF), based in New York but with twenty branches in the US, boasts on its website that it has provided tens of millions of dollars to the Israeli military.
The money contributed is federal income tax exempt and most of the donors are able to write the contributions off on their own federal taxes as an inducement to give.
Such non-profits are generally granted that special status through demonstrating that they are religious, charitable or educational. Sending money to the Israeli army satisfies none of those requirements.
Not only does Israel take advantage of a tax break on money coming from groups that are ostensibly US-based, one of my correspondents advised me that the corruption goes far deeper than that, consisting of the fact that 501(c)(3) organizations must be registered through what is referred to as a “domicile.”
Most are in the United States but domiciles in Canada and Mexico are also accepted given the economic realities of the North American market.
Only one other country has an acceptable domicile and that is, of course, and, inevitably, Israel.
In other words, an allowable exemption and the related deductible contribution for US tax purposes might uniquely consist of US taxpayer money that goes to a charity registered in Israel.
As Israeli charities have no reporting requirements vis-à-vis the US Treasury and no mechanism exists to validate their function and activity, they only answer to the government of the state of Israel.
And of course the pandering to Israel includes much more in the way of manipulating the political process to provide benefits to the Jewish state.
It has long been a cliché in Washington that any long bill like defense appropriations that passes through the Congress will inevitably have some goodies for Israel inserted in it.
Recent and current legislation reflects the perceived need by Congressmen to show the flag, which would be the Star of David rather than the Stars and Stripes, given the Israeli engagement in the military extermination of Palestinians that has no sign of ending as it is entering into its tenth month.
The United States is not only funding and arming the Israelis, it is also providing political cover by vetoing nearly every United Nations proposal that would have led to a cease fire accompanied by some kind of exchange of hostages and prisoners.
Along the way, no excess by Israel is considered to be too outrageous to require an objection coming from Congress and/or the White House, including Israel’s National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir’s proposal that he would relieve the overcrowding in the prisons with Palestinians who are being held without charges by taking them out and killing them, one pistol shot to the head each.
Former defense minister Avigdor Liberman has gone one step farther, calling on his country to use its nuclear weapons to obliterate Iran, presumably with full US approval.
Israel has also been charged with killing journalists, humanitarian workers, medical workers including doctors, and torturing and starving Palestinian prisoners, but hey, that all constitutes minor stuff when one is best friends with the “Chosen” in Israel.
And there is much more
The International Criminal Court ruling that Israel’s Prime Minister and Defense Minister should be on the receiving end of arrest warrants over war crimes and possible genocide in Gaza was responded to by US Congress with a letter threatening the jurors and their families if the court were to proceed.
The US also cut off all funding and even cooperation with the United Nations’ UNWRA which, Israel has declared to be a terrorist organization, but which has been the major source of what food and medicine was actually getting through to Gaza in spite of Israeli efforts to block it.
Congress also has moved to ignore any reports coming from the remaining Gazan authorities revealing the casualties resulting from the Israeli bombing and other killing, as if hiding the death toll will make it go away.
The respected British medical journal The Lancet is now reporting that as many as 186,000 Gazans might be dead, mostly among the rubble of their homes, uncounted because the Gazan officials who would have performed that task are dead and whole families are wiped out so no one is reported missing.
It is a far larger number than the circa 37,000 that keeps appearing in the western media in an attempt to mitigate what Israel is up to.
And there is also the really petty stuff that surfaces regularly from the pro-Israel message control network.
Three Columbia University senior officials have been removed from their positions because of comments and private emails they have written deriding the claims of “surging” antisemitism at colleges.
Among the “evidence” was an intercepted message suggesting that a panelist could have used recent campus protests as a fundraising opportunity and another that appeared critical of a campus rabbi’s essay about antisemitism.
The university will also launch a “vigorous” antisemitism and antidiscrimination training program.”
Meanwhile a leading New York law firm Sullivan & Cromwell, headed by an Orthodox Jew, is setting up an index that will identify law students who have been demonstrating against Israel, creating a “do not hire” list of the names so they will not be offered employment after graduation.
“The firm is scrutinizing students’ behavior with the help of a background check company, looking at their involvement with pro-Palestinian student groups, scouring social media and reviewing news reports and footage from protests. It is looking for explicit instances of antisemitism as well as statements and slogans it has deemed to be ‘triggering’ to Jews.”
And then there is Donald Trump using the word “Palestinian” as a slur in his debate with Joe Biden and efforts by politicians like Governor Ron DeSantis to reject the arrival of any refugee Palestinians as immigrants to Florida as they are all “terrorists.”
You know, little stuff like that and the efforts at criminalization of free speech if it comes to criticizing either Israeli or Jewish group behavior. You know, minor stuff.
Pretty soon we Americans will all be terrorized into dancing to the same tune that Congress and the White House dance to. Then it will be too late.

Wall Street Journal: Yemen wins its confrontation with the West
Criticism is increasing of the Israeli strike that targeted the Yemeni port of Hodeidah in response to the targeting of Tel Aviv, as it is a strike that does not “achieve a deterrent.” The American Wall Street Journal says in this regard that what happened "represents the failure of the Biden administration's appeasement policy to contain the Houthis." In an article translated by Al-Khandaq website, she considered that "the Houthis and Iran have learned that they can kill Israelis and Americans at low cost."
Translated text:
The bombing exchange between Yemen's Houthis and Israel over the weekend is not just another military escalation in the Middle East. It represents the failure of the Biden administration's appeasement policy to contain the Houthis as they terrorize commercial shipping in the Red Sea, Israel, and the US Navy.
Israel bombed Yemen's Hodeidah port, including oil and gas depots, a power plant, and cranes used in Houthi military operations. This was a response after a Houthi drone evaded Israeli air defenses on Friday and landed in Tel Aviv near the US consulate, which may have been the target. One Israeli civilian was killed and 10 others were wounded.
What if the drone killed Americans?
The Houthis have attacked Israel from Yemen more than 200 times since October 7, although Israeli defenses have managed to intercept most of the drones and missiles.
The movement boasts that its drones have become advanced enough to bypass Israeli radar and interceptor missiles.
The Biden administration told Israel nine months ago that the United States would deal with the Houthi threat and should commit to playing defense. But the attack on Tel Aviv shows that American efforts are failing.
The Houthis have shut down Western shipping in the Red Sea, at enormous cost to global businesses and consumers. They continue to attack US Navy ships, forced to play a high-stakes game of capturing drones and missiles. That one or more of them did not kill sailors and damage ships is a tribute to American naval training and technology. But sooner or later, time may pass and lead to American losses.
Why aren't Biden and the administration's commander-in-chief doing more? For the same reason, they have responded tepidly to other attacks by Iranian-backed proxies in Iraq and Syria.
They know that Iran is the Houthis' supplier and master of terrorism, and that the United States will have to hurt Iran militarily to leave a sufficient deterrent impression. This may mean sinking a large part of the Iranian navy. Biden and his political advisors fear that such a US response could lead to Iranian escalation and more fighting before the US elections.
The White House hopes that the Gaza ceasefire will lead to the Houthis cease and desist. But the Houthis and Iran have learned that they can kill Israelis and Americans at low cost. Even if they stop for a while, they can resume operations anytime they wish. The Houthis and their Iranian sponsors are winning in their confrontation with the West, and the result is likely to be more American and Israeli losses in the future.
