AP-NORC poll suggests a sea change in Israel-related attitudes among US grassroots, even “Christian” Zioinists
Most Evangelicals, who are infested with "Christian" Zionism, are Republicans. But a poll shows that they could be turning away from their Israel worship. Bad news for Trump.
The AP-NORC poll separately asked Republicans and Democrats in November 2023 about the Israeli military response to the Hamas war, and back then, after barrages of anti-Hamas propaganda had been published in all the media, only 18% of the Republicans said Israel’s response had gone too far. The Democrat opinions reflected the catastrophic reality.
I have lived around “Christian” Zionists throughout my youth and still maintain contact with some of them. A few years ago, Facebook started allowing pro-Palestine groups to air their experiences with the Israeli authorities, and the stories they published showed that Israel was committing crimes against humanity wholesale. I found a photo of two Palestinian boys, each of whom had had one of his eyes shot out by the Israeli authorities. I sent this to several of my old contacts who were Evangelical leaders (2 pastors, two Evangelical pro-family activists, family members), etc.
One pastor dismissed the photo saying he never trusts “digital” evidence. The activist, who is a fairly well-known book author in the Evangelical community, said the photo was an “obvious fake” but did not deign to explain his reasons for this assessment.
I also brooked the subject in an email to a British fundamentalist activist, and after I had presented some evidence of Israeli crimes, he wrote back and ended his email with the words “and for what it’s worth, I stand with Israel.” A distant family member wrote a scathing response saying God had his eye on me and I had better watch my step. In other words, this person clearly believed that talking about Israel’s crimes against humanity was a grievous sin that would surely send me to hell.
None of this surprised me. I had known for decades that most Evangelical fundamentalists think of Israel as a sacred entity, putting it on a par with Jesus Himself.
The key here is that there are millions of people who hold such beliefs and these beliefs have, since the earliest times, particularly since the UN’s recognition of Israel as a state in 1948 (under severe arm-twisting from the US), driven US-Israel relations. Thus, official foreign relations have always been based on religious thinking as opposed to reason, logic and actual facts, which have always been suppressed. And as I said before, this thinking was biased and based on a twisted exegesis that is nowhere enunciated clearly in the Bible but seems to have been derived from a tendentious source aimed for over a century at supporting the Zionist idea that originated among influential Jewish groups around the Rothschild billionaires. And we know how much influence billions of dollars can buy. But there were also Zionists in Europe who were eager to rid their countries of the Jewish populations and saw in the Zionist project an opportunity to sweep them out the door.
I have studied the Bible since my earliest years and have read the New Testament several times over, in both English and the original Koine Greek. I have listened to prophecy “experts” since the 50s and know what they believe, but have never been able to reconcile Jesus’ teachings, contained in the New Testament, with these “experts” teachings, which are clearly based on a cherry-picking and mixing and matching of unrelated Biblical passages. This realization led me to write my article "Christian" Zionism, with the word Christian in quotes because it is clear to me that this doctrine is anything but Christian – and yet it has been mainstream for decades in Evangelical churches. As Israel entered, Jesus was quietly ushered out the back door.
Is it any wonder, then, that the US government has been slaughtering civilians ever since WW II and garnering the approval of the churches – in direct contravention of Christ’s love-centered teachings? And is it any wonder that the current US regime is unswervingly pro-Israel even in the face of countless reports of daily atrocities from Palestine? After all, the Neocons who run our foreign policy know their voter base.
Or do they?
As I said above, only 18% of Republican respondents in the AP-NORC poll taken last November thought Israel had gone too far in its military response to the Hamas attack in October.
However, less than 3 months later, in January, all of 33% of these same Republicans had changed their minds and now thought Israel had gone too far.
I needn’t remind you that a majority of conservative Christians, who are mostly “Christian” Zionists, are Republicans.
And as I also mentioned, religious thought relies more on a belief system that, for the most part, bypasses reason, logic and facts.
However, despite this, these people are not totally brain dead.
Last November, the impact of US-Israeli propaganda, including downright lies and disinformation, was weighing heavily on the American mind, especially among conservatives, and especially religious conservatives. Many of them were able at that time to ignore the ongoing slaughter of civilians, including children, and cling to the old notion that all negative sentiment and statements about Israel were false, and if you were an older Evangelical, they were “of the devil.”
But as time went on, the reports about horrendous crimes kept coming in. Further, these were no longer confined to social media. The msm were reporting them, and were supporting the reports with video and photographs.
At the same time, the msm gradually stopped carrying the water for Israel. The effort involved in obfuscating and lying was just too burdensome, and furthermore, being humans, journalists could no longer fight their consciences. Their own families and friends were all talking about the catastrophic numbers of the dead, particularly the women and children, who, despite the Israeli propaganda, could not all have been terrorists.
A new enlightenment had slowly dawned in America.
Added to this was the sober judgment of the ICJ and even of EU foreign minister Josep Borrell, who roundly denounced the Israeli barbarism. Western leaders who back in October and November had stood with Israel, were backing away. They didn’t want their names and their legacy besmirched by the Palestinian Holocaust.
Biden’s team saw the sea change and decided to at least pretend to oppose the Israeli genocide, making forceful statements that, however, did not match their deeds, which included generous aid packages stuffed with the weapons used to slaughter Palestinians.
Trump so far doesn’t seem to know what is happening all around him.
But the signs are everywhere. The rapid shift from 18% of Republicans to 33% does not mark a static condition. American attitudes are in flux. A poll taken months from now will reflect the ongoing reports of starvation and bombing of Palestinian aid seekers. Even the staunchest of Israel worshippers will be forced to take the facts into account. The most recalcitrant pastors and Evangelical leaders will be forced to acknowledge the awful truth and their followers will eventually fall into line.
The only unknown in all of this is when. If the opinion shift comes after November, Trump may dodge a bullet.
But if not, we could be in for a surprise.
Either way, we will elect a president who is beholden to a foreign power and therefore an un-American president whose actions will clash with the public’s desire for a just and humane treatment of the Palestinians.

Tragedy in Ukraine: Poles arriving to install missiles were hit

“First Russian” [Tsargrad] asked military expert Alexei Leonkov whether the explosion of a used Mi-8 could really be the beginning of a chain of provocations that could lead to another war in the Russian world.
Tsargrad: Is the blowing up of a rotorcraft reconnaissance in force?
Alexey Leonkov: I think that this kind of provocation, unfortunately, will continue. The first stone has been thrown. Now they are looking at the reaction. Conclusion

"Never Forget": Remembering the Muslim Holocaust...
Of course we all vividly remember the brutal and tragic massacre of Jews by Hitler's fascists during World War II. How could we not. Anne Frank, Schindler's List, Auschwitz, The Zookeeper's Wife, Paul Newman and Sal Mineo in Exodus, holocaust museums in every major city in America and all those many PBS specials. Over four million Jews were designated as Holocaust survivors and 250,000 of them still receive reparation payments from Germany today.
But how many of us remember the Muslim Holocaust? Hardly anyone.
Take the Iran-Iraq war for instance. Back in 1980, American neo-cons talked Saddam Hussein, their very close ally, into attacking Iran. "We got your back, buddy," said Rumsfeld and Cheney (much in the same way that Nuland and Biden told Zelensky that America had his back). Approximately 500,000 Muslims were killed during that conflict -- sponsored by the good old U.S.A.
